Why Orthotic Check ups are so important

We know orthotic check ups are easy to overlook if everything feels ok.......BUT sometimes this can be deceiving.

Just like the dentist, if you don’t have your regular check up, you run the risk of unnecessary trouble creeping up on you.

So what does this mean?

  1. The clever things we hide inside your shoes stop your feet and legs drifting out of alignment. If your feet drift out of alignment, the knees, legs, hips and spine follow. If your orthotic check is overdue, the drifting is already happening. Don’t try telling yourself it’s not.
  2. The further away you drift, the more joint stress, wear and tear and compensation occurs, plus the unnecessary energy you're having to waste managing it. That’s not good news now and even worse news later on.
  3. Arthritis and compensatory muscle soreness during and after exercise can also begin to occur. GOOD alignment and function helps improve you efficiency, balance, speed, endurance and coordination.

We want to encourage you to look after your orthotics AND If you do, you can look forward to all the good things that come with it; performance, longevity and the health of your feet, legs, knees, hips and spine. Set aside 20 minutes once a year and we will take care of the rest for you.

If it has been more than 3 years since your orthotic devices were maintained or replaced!

In that time even our lower activity clients will have taken over 2 million steps each year! Over the course of orthotic therapy we expect your feet to change, so we need to ensure your orthotic device evolves with your feet.

We use the highest grade of materials available worldwide, giving longevity of orthotic life and lightweight performance; however, your orthoses will still experience the compressible weight of our body and activity over time.

What do we expect your orthotics may need after 3 years of wear and tear?

1. Ideally a “Re-setting” of your existing orthotic therapy to allow continuity, rather than a “re-make”.

2. If it turns out your orthotic devices have worn out, we have all your previous orthotic designs stored. We save time by updating these designs, maximising your performance without having to start from scratch.
